transmission questions

All right I’ll start with this ... I have searched and have not been able to find a definitive answer so...
The transmission died in my 82 280zx non turbo. I have an 87 300zx as a parts car for another project already and am wondering if I could use the transmission from it in my 280zx? both cars are manual non turbo the 280zx is a 2 seater the 300zx is a 2+2. I know i would need a different drive shaft but that would be cheaper than trying to source a decent used transmission.

thanks

M

I think the fact that the 300zx is a V6, and the 280zx is an inline 6 it would not work the bolt patter would probably be off.. or the bellhousing from the 300zx would be a lot bigger I would assume.. I think I saw this somewhere else. Not to sure though.

I found a link on hybridz.org but did not save to favorites like I thaought I did.. Just search over there and you will find it, I guess they made an adapter and used a different bellhousing.
