turbo advice please

I have a 77 280z that has under 70k miles it runs great, smooth, quiet and, good oil press. but I have the need for speed, so I want to install a turbo. I was wondering how much boost I can run on a stock l28 any other advice is welcome thanks

I'm sure there will be guys that say "just slap on a turbo & go."

My opinion: DO IT RIGHT. Find an L28ET & swap it in. It's much easier to do, that to try to build up an L28 to run correctly & withstand the higher pressure. You'll end up swapping half the L28ET onto it anyway... why not just start w/ an L28ET.

I agree with Nismopick.. Start with a turbo motor it is ALOT easier.. you can drive around and build the motor outside of the car..

Yeah that is a great idea. That is what I will be doing when I am ready to rebuild a Turbo motor. And to also make sure I have everything I need to make it work in my Z. Get all the parts I need to have it run right, and how it should.

An L28ET will be cheaper then trying to piece together all the neccessary part anyways. So you might as well get the L28ET. The only reason I was at one point considering boosting my NA L28 is because I was going to do a lot of custom work and internal work so buying an L28 wouldve been pointless if I wan't going to use anything but the damn oil pump

Oh and s/c can tell you how much boost an L28 will take with a stock bottom end
