Twin it??

Hey guys I was wondering if you know if a L28ET can handle twin turbo t3 because I was thinking of riping a turbo off a diff 280ZX and see if I can't get the job custom done. so what do you think will I blow my engine?

Unless you are an EXPERIENCED engine builder, I would suggest NOT trying to TT an L28. If you really really want a TT, start studying. Read the book Maximum Boost, and other engine design books. Tinker around w/ a spare engine & re-build it.

This is a pic of an L28ETT: https://www.zdriver.com/forums/attac...8&d=1127795183 It needs to be fully built (head studs, cap studs, MLS headgasket, forged parts, etc). It's not like you can just "slap an extra turbo on" and think all will work wonderfully.

Ding Ding! Winnah! Yep... and bigger injectors controlled by a better fuel management system.

I know that but i was just making sure the block can handle it. I will be geting exaust, inercooler, MAJOR good heads, and so on. But I think I will be looking in on that book he's taking about. I really would like to know more.

Someone on here about a year ago put up a picture of a twin turbo L28 set up, but I couldn't find it this morning. It has been done though.

Rod.

I'll second the staying away from the twin T3's. It's going to be a step down and you'll be much better off finding a larger turbo. With the bigger single turbo you'll end up with less lag, potential for the same -if not more- top end. And, it's not going to weigh nearly as much as a twin setup. Packaging will be easier and not nearly as much fabrication is required. If it's just the "idea" you're after then that would be sole reason to do the twin setup. But if function is your goal then steer clear.

ah yeah! That's "TurboZfreak's" setup. He was going to use the L24 carb intakes & weld in injector bungs. He disappeared for about 2 years & then he messaged me the other day. He hasn't ever finished that project. Here's his cardomain page: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/484024

that guy got called out a few years ago for lying about his car.. he had posted some BS on another Z forum and the turbo police from Hybrid called him out on it and well basicly called his bluff.... if you notice the webpage that apollo linked the pic from is from out there in the netherlands or somewhere like that and TurboZfreak basicly copied thier pic and claimed that motor to be his..

I talked to him quite a bit about 2 years ago. He supposedly had a dyno / machine shop in Colorado w/ his buddy, then moved to Cali. He knows a hell of a lot about Z's... and was planning on TT'ing an L28.... maybe that red L28ETT is just a pic to model his & decided to claim it?
