Vg30dett?

Anyone transplanted one of these or a VG30ET? Have seen a VG30DET in a S30 which was a bit tight for width but I'm guessing that the slight extra width in the ZX's engine bay would be a plus.

Other than that, the usual custom mounts etc I suppose. But if anyone else has used a V6 Nissan info and pics on that would help for sure.

there was a man that put a vg30dett into a 280z, he couldnt get it to fit under the hood ao he cut down the frame rails and still had to put a smaller oil filter on it, that filter kit would save you ALOT of hassle.

A VG30DET engine would do but a decent one would not be easy to find now, should give more frame rail clearance than the TT. Yeh I go on HybridZ but there is not much action there on the 280ZX.

That's because our cars are the red headed step child of the Z world... And coincidentally, the best selling generation at the same time. Hmmmm.

No offense to other members on this site but if your going to call any Z a "red headed step child" I thnk it's the Z31. And your right there isn't much for us s130 guys over at Hybrid.

yeah, I remember saying that once before... about the Z31. Just not a fan of that style. I guess when the Z32 came along, Nissan changed their styles, Like my S13. I love that car.

I don't care for the early Z31's. But the later ones with the different body styling is a good looking car. It's one of those cars that I have yet to find a picture to do it justice. When I see them in person though I love them. It's a part of the evolution of the Z and definitely has it's place. It's often overlooked but actually offers the greatest potential for things like engine swaps. Especially considering the Z31 was also equipped with an RB elsewhere on this beautiful planet. If directly swapping in an RB isn't reason enough to love them then consider this: If it wasn't for the Z31 then the 280zx would be at the bottom of the barrel (that last comment was only a joke. I like that car )

The last 3 years of the Z31 in particular (87-89) have a lot more potential for looking hot. I agree an 89 Turbo all black with some nice wheels would look pretty damn sweet. I like the Z31 just fine. I'd take a nice Z31 over an average S30 any day (Please send hate mail to rodmoyes@getoverit.com).
