Wiring Woes

I know you guys are probably getting sick of hearing from me, but I need your help. Again. I was working on the dash when I broke my turn signal/wiper combination switch. The turn signals stopped working, and the headlights were stuck on. So, I ended up replacing the combination switch, and now I can turn the headlights off, but the turn signals won't work.

I've had this problem before, and it was tied to my hazard switch also not working. I've already replaced the hazard switch, and so now I tried to replace the hazard relay, but the problem is that the wiring just isn't there. don't get me wrong, there are plenty of wires that go to nowhere, but none of them seem to be for the hazard relay.

Picture 1: the first of the mystery wires. It is right where the hazard relay SHOULD be, but as shown in picture 5, the hazard relay I bought has three prongs, not two.

Picture 2: This is another mystery wire. Anybody know what it is for?

Picture 3: These mystery wires were right next to the power mirror connectors under the center console.

Picture 4: On the left is the turn signal relay. On the right is where the hazard relay is supposed to go.

Picture 5: the hazard flasher relay that autozone said was the right one.

Any help with identifying these wires would be tremendous. I'm hoping that once the relay issue is fixed, the turn signals will play nice.

#1: For the hazard relay, which is round just like the turn signal one.
#2: Seems like it's supposed to be disconnected.
#3: For heated mirror option.
#5: Did you search for other model years?

no, I didn't search for other model years. Looks like if I tell them I have a '79 or '80 I can get a two prong one, but it doesn't look like it will fit the female connector.

@autozone

same part comes up on oreilly as well. Checked MSA, and they have one listed, but it doesn't have a picture of the connector. I'm not willing to gamble $22 on what could be the exact same thing as the other places. I'm half-tempted to just go to the store and see if there is one that fits.

I did end up going to the store and none of the hazard flashers matched the connector in picture 1. Also, I found a picture on ebay of both of the relays together, and that relay doesn't match the switch either, but does match the ones autozone. I don't think that picture 1 is the hazard flasher after all.

on ebay

The flashers still aren't working, and I still can't find an unconnected wire that matches the available hazard flashers, and I also can't find a hazard relay that matches picture #1. I also checked the fuses and none of them are burnt out. The connections for the fuses look solid, so I am at a loss.

Update:

I now have turn signals working again, but still no hazards. I know some years of the Z have a combined hazard and turn signal relay into one unit, and now I'm wondering if my '81 somehow has a hazard relay from another year? Also, I plugged in the square relay and it works great, even if it is the wrong shape.

You should come up to my place some afternoon and we'll do some more work on the car.
