So i turn the key and nothing happens. The only thing im hearing is a faint whirring sound which i think is the fuel pump. The battery is also only about a month old and was reading 12.2 volts so we charged it up and still nothing. Afterwards i noticed that the voltage on the battery started dropping fairly quickly and yesterday it was reading 12.2 again. So i think something is draining the battery and whatever it is probably has to do with the ignition system. I went through the service manual for the starter troubleshooting bit but i don't think i quite understood everything they were saying so i have no way of knowing if i did any of those tests right. I should also mention that there is an aftermarket alarm system that cause the car to not start before but what i did to fix that last time didn't work so i don't know what to do at this point.

get a vom and electricity for dummies. 12.2 v on battery is fine. jump a hot wire from the battery to the starter solenoid if it doesn't crank then you got a bad starter or a bad solenoid. are the main battery cables any good? clean corrosion free terminals on both ends. properly connected to the starter. ain't rocket science!
