1982 280zx s130 NA Fuel Pump Issue
Hello I have a 1982 280zx NA that was running and driving. When I went to turn it on the pump primed normally, except towards the end it sounded like it was loosing a bit of power. It turned on and ran fine. Second time i tried to turn it on, i got no priming of the fuel pump. I hear the relay switch on and off as if it were priming.
Things I have done.
-Pulled the fuel pump ( direct connect to battery worked)( so i dont think its the pump itself)
- Checked fuseable links all are good
-Checked power to the fuel pump wires, one grounded wire and one power* ( gave a range off 11 to 12v when connected to only voltmeter)(no voltage to little .05v when connected to pump)
- Tried switching the poles around too, but nothing.
The odd thing is that when I connect the fuel pump both poles become grounded, is this a normal thing? (I dont have someone to prime the pump while I probe with the meter to see if this changes)
Since I am getting voltage when connected to the voltmeter and the pump worked normaly when connected straight to battery. I'm somewhat at a loss on what could be wrong.
If you have any idea of what may be wrong or other trouble shooting things i can do please let me know.
