1983 280zx NA build
I'm starting from a decently solid body. there is a little bit of damage under the car but it is for the most part mechanically sound. I bought it in February of 2010 and it had around 250,000miles on the body and supposedly 40,000 on a motor rebuild. It is now sitting over 320,000miles.
What I've already done. XXR002 wheels and the widest tires I could fit without modifications. I have put in HID Projector headlights which are AMAZING. Not a lot I admit.
I have just recently started a rebuild of the car as a whole. I'm starting with body work. Stripping down to bare metal doing some repair work on some rust and some cracks. Going to shave the door handles, side mirrors, power antennae holes and trim holes. I plan to switch to the fender mounted mirrors in hopes they will be more stable and I won't get the cracks in the doors.
The paint scheme is going to be based on the Black Gold cars but instead of gold it will be Synergy Green Metallic. Pictures now!
typical rust hole along the front of the hood
door frame cracks
lots of old body filler in the driver side fender

I have an update for you guys. I know it's been slow, but money is tight.
Rear window wiper delete.
Rear window washer delete
Passenger side door handle shaved.
Passenger side mirror shaved.
Rust repair on the hood. Fixed that notorious cancer.
I've also been stripping the interior. Down to pretty much center console, dash and driver seat. I've found some more rust in the floor pan which might be pretty bad. Time will tell I suppose.
also... sorry for some of the pics being unnecessarily huge.

It's been awhile since I've been able to touch the car. I've recently moved into a house with a 2 car garage and I've started tinkering again. All the interior is out of the car minus the center console and dash. I know that is what I said above, but there was actually quite a few more things to come out that I didn't realize at the time. The wiring harness has been removed from the rear of the car up to the dash. Everything is all tagged and hopefully should be easy to reinstall when it's time. I removed most of the front clip. The passenger side fender is probably going to have to be replaced. Cancer has eaten the mounts off at the bottom rear and is pretty bad up the side of it. Driver side fender is mostly ok. The bumper cover went in the trash as it's not going back on the car. The front valence is all banged up and probably going in the trash but I haven't yet because it's not rusty, it just needs a lot of time under the hammer. Once the interior is all removed I will start working on removing the engine which is currently up for sale on craigslist. What is the best way to remove the sound proofing from the floor of the trunk deck? I was assuming a heat gun would be able to loosen up the glue enough to get a scraper under it but I haven't got one yet to try it. No new pics yet. When I get the interior all cleaned up I'll post some new ones.

I have finished removing everything from the interior. Everything is out except the steering column and pedals and I don't have any plans to remove them. My new engine arrive recently and I've been working on test fitting it. Gonna need some modifications to get it in but it's gonna be awesome. PICTURE TIME!!!
