200,000 miles, YES made it alive, now time to do some maintance lol so it can 300k!

My 1983 280zx i now perfectly at 200,000 miles (i will get a pic, unless someone drove my car, which is rare, but i hope not), I bought it at 181,000 one year and half ago. Now time for a tune up and replacement of some of the suspension, and change the gauges to analogue. What are some things recommended to be done when a car gets to 200,000? My cars been suffering from loads of understeer lately just so you all know.

I am going to do this, this week or as the parts come in, and yes i have the money.

Oil Change, clean out oil pan.

Radiator flush

Replace radiator hoses

See if i can get a lube gun and get the two front spots on the strut assembly (its underneath it)

Install new bushings, sway bar kit, and struts and springs. (hopefully will give me more over steer lol) front strut bar, I already got some good eurosport all season tires and allignment just a few weeks ago.

Install 130 mph cluster

Radar detector since i been to lucky with out one so far.

Simple sterio set up, with 2 x 400 watt opimus subs (was sitting for 3 years unopened in some storage, bought for $20), in a competition sub box I fixed that was in a car that wrecked hardcore at 80 mph. some cheap deck that takes SD cards or has a usp port for mp3 player? I dont want to deal with mp3 cd's.

Then do a $50 home depot or other paint bought place black paint job and buffer.

Anything else recommended? Like axles and barings to check? Also is a exhaust upgrade really that important on these N/A's? should I get a high flow cat? insteed of just putting headers on and new piping? shouldnt that just free up some back pressure and make the engine breath better, and get a better muffler to of course.

Also is a head rebuild a good idea, or should I adjust the valves.

Heres a thread on my Z from awhile back, https://www.zdriver.com/forums/280zx-s130-forums-77/my-83-280zx-n-before-after-lol-20921/

The cars my daily car now, so I am not going to run it hard anymore I still want it to be reliable and when ever I need to do something like avoid something, I dont understeer into it lol.

I am not far from ya man. I just rolled over to 170K. I am gonna try to get her there. but #3 cylinder won't make it that far. She's spitin oil like Mad. Even getting oil coming out the spark plug. and you can grab #3 and shake the piston. But i still leave healthy black marks All over this county. These engines are Awesome. I have yet to know a Engine to have a piston shot like mine. and still run like a Hoss.

Congrats man, I rolled over the 200k mark in my '82 a while ago. Quite an achievement with these cars. Well soon, I will put him down, do the turbo swap, and replace a lot things on him. I too am burning oil in number 3, but still pretty strong though.

215,333 miles on my 81 as of this morning. My trip doesn't work right so I go by my odometer reading for gas mileage and such. How can you say 200k is quite an achievement? Seems most of us here have reached at least that point and I know of some with over 300k and one guy with over 400k. The high nickel content in the L28 blocks make them almost immune to wearing out so long as proper maintenance is kept up. I'd be willing to bet my 81 could go another 200k without a problem sans the electrical and EFI (MS here I come...).

kitty's segway has mebbe, now, 500 or 600----he really rolls slowly, for a kitty--i think it was that recalled poison food he has been eating all his life.....do not forget to change your oil pump so car makes it to 300k easily..........
