280ZX Slugish Acceleration

My 83 280ZX (non turbo) response to throttle inputs is sluggish. It's not horrible bad, but just not as peppy. I saw some improvement after cleaning corroded injector connectors but still not quite right. However, occasionally when the stars align and I get a brief (5 to 10 seconds) burst of Z acceleration and it feels great. I am due for spark plugs, distrubutor cap and wires but have never replaced the O2 sensor.
Appreciat the help!

Timing is set at 8.
When I really step on the gas the car hesitates and then it grabs and I get good acceleration. Maybe fuel filter or pump?
Thanks.

Welcome to Zdriver...When mine had issue I had the Air Flow Meter issue. Got someone who was an expert at it and got it adjusted properly and it is working like a charm. It takes of like a rocket. I think there is a HOW TO here to do it your self.

Thanks for all the ideas. I am ashamed to admit my spark plugs were in dire need of replacement and they were pretty bad. The sluggishness is gone, I replaced ignition wires, distributor, rotor and plugs.
The only snag left is a stuck transmission filler plug. (I removed the transmission to change the rear main oil seal and clutch) Can't get the plug off and have pretty much destroyed the original plug. I gave up and used the reverse switch opening to fill the xmission.

I may wait for cooler weather and attempt to remove the plug -

Thanks for the help!
