280ZXT - wasn't going to be a project...

Here is Yasin's harness a few days ago. Its almost done with all the connectors, etc now. I'm just testing it on the bench with the diyautotune.com optical encoder wheel so we can get the distributorless ignition working. Looks good on the bench - getting close!

Finally an update! The 370Z went into winter hibernation and I lent my Jeep to a friend of mine for a couple of months so the 280ZXT is my DD so I had to get 'er up and running. Anyhow there is a really cool app for the Android devices called Shadow Dash check it out!
The new Shadow Dash software for the Android to implement a HUD for the Mega Squirt 3 I'll be running in the car. Man this is slick!
PDA on the dash
Piece of reflective window tint and voila - HUD!
Of course pictures don't do it justice so a quick and dirty video of the HUD

Yes it's the Nexus 7 - great price for what you get. The no SD slot ticks me off - it's a very Apple-esque move to jack the price up for the larger memory units. Other than that it's a fantastic unit especially using it as a display for Mega Squirt.

Apple released their "iPad Mini" for $330 ($80 more than the Nexus) and it is, in my opinion, not as good as far as specs go (Nexus has a better screen density, albeit .9" smaller).
Android is overtaking Apple products, and I think Windows 8 will be a big hit with Tablet and phone users soon too. We'll see!
Boy I've just gotten this thread way off topic haven't I!

Lol no worries - it's part of it really. Apple is (was?) great a marketing but profit is first and foremost so they hope people are stupid enough to believe that what they have is exactly what the consumer wants. "Living in the garden" in the garden is great as long as you want to do what they tell you is good. Problem is when the big guns roll up to compeat it shows consumers there are interesting options or the same options for less. Android has already taken a huge chunk out of Apple's business and I hope Windows 8 finally becomes the cross platform it should have been before. Microsoft has had to battle with thousands of different pieces of hardware intefacing to it's OS so they should have a smoother transition to the cross platform world.
Anyhow the point is people were developing for iOS because there were so many users with iOS but it's very difficult for developers. Android was the opposite but now they have more hardware, more powerful and diverse hardware and it's cheaper. Products like Shadow Dash will be more common on the Android devices than iOS because now the user base is there and it's way easier on developers.

I also just found out that Google is releasing a 32GB version of the Nexus 7 on the 29th for $249, the same price we just paid for ours. Looks like that one is going back to Wal-Mart!
