79 280ZX restoration finished
#27
Hey question for you guys with 79's. What's your guys ser# and build dates curious to know when mine was actually built. My tags are gone so I don't know when. My number is 102588 and I know they made 86xxx of them so I was thinking late 78 very early 79. Mine looks nothing like yours but she's slowly coming around and once I move she's getting put up and stopped down.

New to the forum
Hi guys,
Glad I found this forum. I am looking at a 46 k mile 1 owner two tone 280zx. It has been stored for 10 + years and currently does not run but the paint is original 2 tone blue / silver and the interior is like the ones in this thread a lot of the plastics have faded from silver to brown. I will try to post a few pics to see what you all think about the car shortly and to see if its too far gone or worth restoring.
Cheers
Harry

Welcome Harry. Your main concern is rust on these cars. Parts are typically plentiful and the electronics is (arguably by some) pretty simple and easy to work on (definately compared to modern systems). If it's not rusty you can probably fix it. The Blue/Silver is probably one of my favorite colour combos on the 280ZX - nice

Interior parts
JanS, did you re-do the interior yourself ? If so, where did you get your interior parts from ? I just bought a 280zx that needs an interior overhaul...I would appreciate if you could point me in the right direction.
