81 ZX no start situation
I am in the process of restoring my ZX and I am trying to get the engine running. I have fuel, spark, compression. The previous owner said that the airflow meter was buggered would this cause it not to start at all? Are there any tests that I can perform on the meter ? I have voltage on the plug side.
Thanks in advance

So you are saying to put an assistant's hand in the opening of the airflow meter and while the engine is cranking over it should flutter? What does that tell me? Not being rude but I figured it would move somewhat as the engine would be drawing air in while the engine was turning over and it would cause pulsation there anyhow. I'll try what you said though and let you know what happened.

If you find out it is your AFM I have one out of a 79 I can sell you for $50.00. The AFM is very picky when my 78 started having problems. I changed plugs, cap, rotor, fuel filter and found out it was the AFM I installed a spare and havent had a problem since.

I tried the car again but I unplugged the MAF and tried starting the car again, it fired up but ran rich and rough (plugs weren't gapped) So I have new gapped plugs in and I am going to start it again but I'll be getting a new MAF shortly from Allmyz Hopefully the car runs better. The car is gutted and I don't want to take anything else out until I get the engine running.
