82 280zx Hood
Quick question on the hood for the 82 280zx turbo the NA hoods from 79-83 will also bolt right up correct? and do you know if the earlier hoods will bolt up im having trouble finding a hood around me thats turbo and isnt rusted but im putting a FMIC so the non turbo hood is fine as long as it bolts up.
Thanks in advance

The turbo hood actually significantly increases air flow to the area around the turbo especially when the car is moving. The shield beside the brake booster is part of the ducting to bring cool air down to that area greatly reducing the engine bay temps. If you are wrapping your header, turbo and downpipe that will also reduce engine bay temps significantly so the NACA ducting isn't as crucial...

Found a hood off a 80 2+2 for $50 with minor rush but the hood "scoop" area in the center is pretty dented to hell was thinking of putting a cowl induction scoop in that area any recommendations on height and style? not wanting anything huge thinking maybe 2" or 2.5" tall never looked at any hood scoops so not sure what to look for.

I'm honestly in the market for a hood with zero cowl on it, or vents
Imagine a world, where you didn't have to use two cans of PB Blaster to get the intake manifold bolts off because of rain coming in through the turbo scoop...
Rustin de' crap out of everything in it's wake.
Guess should keep Z garaged from now on.

If you value the car It pretty much needs garaged. How ever if your garage is wet at all its better to keep it out. . . . Went to see a garage kept z for sale and well the wet garage did damage much worse then zs sitting in the woods. . . . And the manifolds well not much you can do . . . . Myself I save all manifold work for the next engine pull then I replace everything with new. . . . . Got about 2 to 3 years of easy wrenching before things seize up

This is a reproduction Datsun made to address the vapour lock issues it had with the Hitachi carbs on the 260Z IIRC.
I think if you cut your stock hood at the stock buldge and modified it to a similar cowl it would look pretty hot..

It's for the S30 chassis not the S130 (280ZX). You should take your junky hood and cut it out along the stock lines pop it up and see what it looks like. A little fiber glass and resin and you could make your own and make it look pretty decent for not a lot of $$...
