82 n/a 5spd 280zx project :)

Hey guys just bought the car and getting back into the car scene. This is my second Z. My first was 86 turbo 300zx and I loved it to death. Buuut long story short I no longer have it, and now I have this 280zx )

So bought the car cheap and of course does not run. The engine will turn-over but not start. Havnt had the car very long. Changed out the coil pack for the ignition and a-vase, the same problem.
Anyone have any ideas?( Not that I'm out of them, just wanting some ideas I may not have thought of )

Anyways, I'm excited to back in the scene, and hope to get involved with everyone

thanks all,
Joe

Welcome to ZDriver, and back to Z ownership!

A motor needs 3 things to run:
-Proper spark
-Proper fuel
-Proper air

Have you checked for spark at each plug? Have you checked the injectors to make sure they are spraying?

I believe the problem is coming from spark. I havnt checked my fuel injectors yet. I'm going to tinker with the car a little more later in the day or possibly tomorrow, but I'm def going to put a light gun on my injector wiring on top of the engine to see if they are getting power

Gah. Starter went out on me and just had it replaced.

There's no spark getting to the engine. We checked from plug after the coil then checked straight from the coil, and no spark from either places.

Could it possibly be the
Electronic Distributor Control Module? or a sensor somewhere?

Could be:
-Coil
-ECU
-Ignitor (on the side of the distributor)
-bad grounds
-bad wiring

I would start w/ that.
