83' Problems!!

Alright, I have some problems with my ZX.

1. A hole in the floor, when I drive in the rain water starts coming in, not like a flood, but enough to make the carpet on the drivers side damp. I've sealed the thing twice so now I have no idea what to do...

2. My temperature gauge (digital dash setup btw) keeps blinking, continuously.

Any tips?

#1... Make a patch or take it to a body shop. A good body shop will rivet in a patch for $100-$500 (depending on the severity).

#2... Check the temp sensor wiring, and fuses.

I had this problem with what is now my parts car. I cut out all the rust that was there, about the size of a softball and screwed in a small piece of sheet metal from the inside. And then i screwed one in from the outside after coating both pieces together with silicone. Never had any more trouble.
My digital temp does the same thing, but mostly shows my temp is maxed out. I know it is a short because i can jiggle the wire and it goes to where it should, but then goes back to max temp.

King, Just a suggestion if you want a rust fix (I don't think they sell metal pannel replacements) check out Resto Motive Labs Inc at http://por15.com 1-800-457-6715 as they sell the chemicals to completely inhibit the rust on cars/boats etc. Their kits are not cheap, but effective. I'm sure you can get them to send a catalog to you and they have a wide selection of products.

Found the leak. It was two small rust hole underneath the driverside fender, where the rain water from the windshield would be run off of the car. The rust build up ran the water directly onto the drive side floor. Luckily I got it quick enough and its no longer a problem, however ...

I have a starter problem, where my car takes a few tries to get started.

I'll turn the key it will keep going rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr until the engine starts, or i'll stop and do it a second time...

The STARTER goes "rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr" or the car's ENGINE goes "rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr" ???

Don't make us guess.

i think its the starter lol its actually kind of embarassing, when you have to sit there and wait for it to start.

Huh... usually when a starter is bad it only clicks when you try to start it. Try whacking it lightly w/ a hammer.

If it is the starter, I am serious. That's the common "trick" to get a starter going. Though you don't seem SURE that it is the starter:

Roger that. Also... how's the battery terminals / wires look? If they are corroded they can cause a hard time starting.

I usually keep the negative terminal loose because I'm always working on the car with the doors open, however I always make sure they are tight and secure before I start the car...This is gonna bug me all night lol

A person I knew had a starter that was going bad, so in cold weather it would freeze up or something. He'd have to whack it with a crowbar or something to get it to start.
