Annoying problem
I have an hour drive to work and back most of which is interstate. When I'm leaving home or leaving work, my 1980 280zx 2+2 runs perfectly fine the entire stretch of interstate but when I get off of the interstate, after approximately 45 miles worth of driving and only when its warm outside, my car begins to spit and sputter as I come to a stop and most times will die after which it is very difficult to restart and keep running. The car never over heats but the engine temperature is always higher than normal. If it is cool or cold outside I never have a problem. PLEASE HELP ! ? I just cant imagine whats causing this problem.
Thanks.
Thanks.

the dying after an interstate run and only when you try to stop sounds like what happened to my 280zxt. the egr valve was malfunctioning somehow. disconnected the vacume and capped it off with a rubber cap and never had another problem with it dying after it got warm.

The next issue to check AFTER you've verified all the basics are in order is the Ignition Module on the distributor. If it's going/gone bad, they have a tendency to act up when they overheat. Because they are so freakin' expensive, it should be one of the LAST things you try.
