Another altenator question

I have to rev my engine up to 3k for the altenator to kick in. Would this be the altenator or a bad connection some place?

Could be either... drive the car to your local parts store (Napa would be best) and have them do a load test.

Don't take out the alternator... drive the car to them & have them do a load test on the car.

You want the test to be real world, not a bench test (the Autozone bench tester is 100% INACCURATE).

I cannot agree moar... I just did an alternator upgrade with a junkyard alternator... took it to two different Autozones, faild at BOTH... I took it to a Checker/O'Reilley's though, and it passed... finally put it on the car today, and it works just fine lol.

Both AZ's failed? Interesting... I've never had AZ EVER fail an alternator. It could be on fire, bleeding human blood, and putting out negative voltage, and their machine would still say it passes.
