Back in the game!!

It's been so long since I have had a 280zx... almost two years I think

I am up in North Carolina now and have come across a 1980 280zx 2-seater 5-speed with T-tops for $800. I just started working again after 163 days of being unemployed and I had to let the guy know I don't have the money for it yet... he said payments are fine!! This made me happy.

It's blue... has some rust (duh) T-Tops leak a little (duh) he said the transmission is fine but the engine ticks (duh) however it doesn't smoke or leak. I am sure it is nothing major. It is after all a 2.8L and we all know they are good engines. It is not a turbo car which is fine with me.

With any luck... I will be driving a Z again!!!! This is where you all wish me luck!!!

I will keep you all posted!! Be Back SOOOOON!!!!

It's official!! He is taking it off of craigslist and I will be making payments on the car!!! I went and looked at it today and it's a little rough but it runs. it has pretty good rust on the cowl and a small dent in the passenger fender. New tires. Wet smell in the car lol... so, now I will order the black dragon catalog because it needs carpet. Pretty sure they have the plug wires on wrong but they have all brand new pigtails for the injectors. Since I know the firing order I will be getting a cap and rotor, 6 new plugs and wires... I could do that with my eyes closed!

It is all stock under the hood and has some missing parts... a vacuum leak but all and all nothing so wrong with it that I couldn't have it running perfect in a day. 181,xxx miles. I also turned them on to ZDriver.com as they have a project ZX in the garage... engine looks really nice on that one. Looks like about a month and I will have the car here. I can't wait... by the way... Snw likes station wagons... not the good kind

Wet smell? uh-oh, points to leaks and most likely further hidden rust somewhere inside. Oh also did i mention GAY!!!!!!!!

Yeah the drivers side T-Top is leaking... I looked at the weather stripping and it looks to be great on the car but the outside edge of the t-top is messed up so I think it is entering there. BD sells the weather seals for a decent price so I am just going to replace all of it for the T-tops, both sides. The hatch has NO rust or leaks at all. Mainly it's the cowl on the bottom of the windshield... didn't see any rust at the top of the windshield.

It is great to be back, thanks everyone!!!

There is a piece missing from the engine near the EGR... can someone tell me what it is? I think this also has to do with the rough running and possible vacuum leak... it is indicated by the red arrow in the pic below. Thanks. When I go over Friday or Saturday I am taking a Cap, Rotor and plugs with me. Might as well have it running good before I drive it 25 miles back to my house. If I know what this part is I could put it back on... so if you all know what it is that would surly help

Ok, found out what the part is... it is part of the emissions crap... the B.P.T. Valve. Whatever that is.

Yeah I downloaded the service manual for this year and have been looking at all of the components... I will most likely remove all of the emissions stuff. I don't care about dirty exhaust... I can only imagine the emissions crap is robbing HP anyway to satisfy whiny people who probably don't even drive. I want my 2.3hp back!!!
