Back to the past?

Hey everybody, Im a Z32(VG30DE, happy? lol it was a slip, i promise it wonnt happen again) enthusiast (please don't hiss or boo, its still a nissan right?) but i was considering jumping back to the past and buying a 280zx. i liek the older style muscle look and it might be a fun project car. Its in pretty decent shape, but it was ridden hard before me. the motor has been rebult and there have been some other modifications, so its running close to 200hp. i was just looking to get a l little more info from people who actually drive them.
How hard are they to work on?
Performance?
How hard is the turbo install?
Any advice you can give me is helpful

Later
Dustin

Hello. The S130(280ZX) is a very easy car to work on. It has tons of room, and the engine is not all that complicated. The turbo install from a N/A is not all that hard, but time consuming, and cost a lil $$$. Turbo. Plumbing, AFM, Disstributor, Crank Sensor, ECU, Wire Harness, Blow off valve, Drill/tap the oil pan for oil return, Exhuast manafold, and a think a few smaller things. I would eather try to find a already turbo model. or stick with N/A and just modify that.

I know that I have no senority on this website though, but from doing my research before I made my purchase, find a z that is turbo equiped. Also, I am used to working on high performance cars such as corvettes, and working on a Z is a million time easier!

Ah yes... it's been about a week since someone has posted a thread like this.

yeah... there's about 1.2 billion posts on here of people asking how to slap a turbo on their car.

Like this one:

https://www.zdriver.com/forums/showt...ght=turbo+swap

or this one...

https://www.zdriver.com/forums/showt...ght=turbo+swap

Long version short... you'll need most of the turbo engine's parts... so why not save yourself the headache & waste of $$$ and just buy a turbo motor. YAY!!!

I heard that technology is getting so advanced, that you can just attach a leaf blower to your intake & drive around with an extention cord.

ummm.... one question... what the hell is a VG32 mister enthusiast? i think you meant a Z32 or a car with a VG30DE/TT. and dotn buy an NA car thats already been modded to put about 200 hp and think you can turbo it... your better off finishing his work and making an NA power plant. or go buy a stock Turbo car.

That's true, but now they have an inverter that plugs into your cigarette lighter and the leaf blower can be plugged in there, saving the danger of getting tangled up in an extension cord, while cruising the strip.

plug it into the cigarette lighter? lol, thats like 2 or 3 days worth of wiring work, im not sure im ready to commit that kind of time for extra horses, though i guess the added 40 hp of a leaf blower would improve my horsepower to weight ratio! while im at it, ill slap some blue ricer LED lights on it, i heard those are like 5 horsepower per light, plus some spinnners, not real ones, the ones u buy at meijer for like 20 b ucks a pop. i hear tho, the best way to get more horses, get a folgiers coffee can spray paint it and tack it on, thats a huge horsepower gain right there lol.
Thanks for the info guys, forgive me if i asked the stupid turbo question, but its better to ask now then screw up later. i just like to knnow what im gettign into. theyre a goood looking car, they only big questionn is wiwll the ennginen give me the fun that the VG30 gives?
