Nice dude, just a little more and your Z will back! I hope I can find enough motivation to get my stupid Z back on the road as well. I'm getting a real bad case of "while I'm at it itis." Stainless brake lines, ARP head studs, JWT 4 bar program, and a complete speaker upgrade for the sound system are in progress. Who knows what else I'll come up with to do while I have my Z on jackstands. Man I miss boost.

Well I had an old 280zx clutch & compared it to my Centerforce... turns out the Centerforce disc is slightly deeper than the stock one & scrapes the flywheel bolts. A couple weeks ago I decided to shave down the lip on the flywheel bolts & that gave enough room for the disc to clear. I also found this on Jeff P's website last night (apparently it's a common problem from the Centerforce clutch):

The engine is almost complete!!! For the last few days I've had a dilemma w/ the oil filter / cooler adapter. Last time I installed it I used RTV for the o-ring because I couldn't find a real one (which left an ugly orange goop ring all the way around it). I called Nissan today & there is a grand total of 3 in the USA. So... lo and behold I saved one of my BMW 325i oil filter o-rings, and w/ a lil trimming and a dab of RTV... wa-la!

theres no generic O-ring that fits that profile you could have gotten from like napa or something? i work there and we have a **** ton of O-rings

Yeah... I checked Autozone, Checker, Napa, and Nissan. The Nissan guy said he might be able to get one in about a week... the Napa guy couldn't even find a listing for it (in the computer, nor his hundred parts books).

I rummaged through a bunch of oil filters, but those o-rings don't sit right. This BMW one fits perfect minus the length.

should check harbor freight if you have to change it, they have kits some of which are pretty big o rings

Negatory... the traditional can type oil filter o-ring is twice as thick, and still not the right diameter. I thought about razoring one down to the right thickness to fit into the adapter groove, but that would take way too long, and take way too much effort. This BMW o-ring is cake.

looking it up? its a ****in o-ring shoulda just had him match one we seriously have hundreds of different sizes big and small you dont need a part listing for that just a non retard to physically match one to it. lol. damn utah napa stores

That's just the common 12mm bolt (12mm bolt head... I dunno what thread size).


I got the motor back in last night but the damn motor mounts were being a PITA. I gotta find one more copper washer for the oil cooler adapter banjo bolts, then fill it up w/ fluids!

That motor looks great with the red! too bad i need to get rid of my z or i would save up the money and get it all rebuilt. BTW does anyone have an estimated price for an L28ET swap? just wondering

It depends on lots of things... like how much you can get the motor for ($$Free$$ - $2000), and how good you are at electrical / mechanical work ($$Free for yourself - $100/hr for the pro's).

Okay Snw... time to prove your NAPA skillz!!!

I cannot find ANYWHERE a banjo crush washer big enough to fit. It's 18.25mm inner diameter. I've been to all the local auto parts & hardware stores... they're all amazed at the size ( Size does matter ). Find me a crush washer!!!
