Is there any difference in the fenders or rear quarter panels on the 79/81 vs 82/83? Is that extra "cladding" for the bumpers just a stick on piece? I like the 79/81 bumpers better and they will go better with my build theme but I don't want to have to fill in spaces with body filler.

 

IIRC, the only difference is one hole for the bumper trim extension, which can easily be filled w/ a backing plate.

Are you asking because you currently own an 82/83? If so, get down there and look. Or are you going to R&R the quarter panels? (I've been there, done that).

 

I currently have an 81 and the only other ZX I ever owned was an 80 so I've just never seen an 82 or 83 "up close" before. I'm going to look at an 83 280ZX-T"up on Saturday so I was wondering how hard it would be to keep my bumpers.
