bought a 72 240z with pics.....

was looking around the back of local junkyard today and stumbled across a 240z that was about an hour away from being crushed, i look inside and it filled with a bunch of boxes, so im thinking it going to be trash, so i open the hood, theres no motor, but the trans is still there, so i go to the front office and ask them how much they want for it, they offer $400 out the door, so i go back out to the car, look under it, very minimal surface rust, but alot of small dents, so i hall *** to the bank, get $400 hall *** back, they had the car on the fork lift and the car was litteraly about ready to be crushed, it was like something out of wangan midnight, anyway we loaded it onto my freinds trailer about an hour later, we bring it home pull all the boxes out, i look into them and they are filled with parts, so i start looking into the other boxes and they are all filled with the missing parts off the car, so i sort threw all of it, and all im missing is a block and crank, this guy baged labeld and boxed all the parts.

here they are

i got some pics, but i cant out them up until i get onto my own navvi, i would get a l28et if i could find one, all the damned collectors are steeling are parts, i also got offerd $2k for it by an old freind who apperently drove from south texas to montana during the winter in one and now has enormouse respect for it, but i said no, im going to steal my motor and trans from the zx and repaint the 240, i also have to convert the rear end to my 4.11 LSD r200. and aslo to rear disc.

the rest of the pics...

That would of make a funny short film on how you saved that 240Z from the crusher. nice work though! A non-turbo L28 should be easy to find if you decide you want to keep your 280ZX running.

yea, im going to be pulling the motor, trans and wheels from the zx and put them in the z, i might consider selling the zx shell though, the only rust i found, was the rusted out spare tire well, that spot in the frame rail the drivers side floor boards up near the top need to be patched up, but there solid. and a nickel sized piece of rust right under the rear hatch wiper..........i wont be swaping parts for a few weeks, but ill update this thread sometime today wiith pics.

third times the charm....

Anyway, that thing is ready and beggin' for a 383 SBC!

Man for a junkyard car about to be crushed, that 240Z is in damn fine condition. Looks pretty clean for a 34 year old car.

the zx wheels are ones i had left over from another project, but this is gonna be a sweet/ easy [roject, because i dont have to deal with rust and a bunch of body work.

well there is no body work, except to replace the right front fender, mount all the lights, drop in my new race motor, rebuild/tune the carbs, wheels, get a title, wash it, quicky $60 spray paint paint job. and a fuel cell.
