All but an actual locker can be adjusted. With viscous you can change the layout of the plates. With a mechanical you can also change discs and spring pressures.

I agree though, it comes down to cost. Is it really worth the expense for the recreational racer? My Mustang came with one (not installed) and the difference was tremendous when I finally installed it. Unlike most old Stangs this one was set up for the turns and not for the drag strip. But at the same time I had just as much fun before I installed the LSD as I did after. It just made my times a litte faster (for the short time I had the car ) It's hard to justify the cost unless you've got the money to burn or are a hardcore racer. Drifters of course, are pretty much out of business without one.

that was cool another bad *** burn out from a 280zx... i should of had my friend video tape my burn out in my 82 280zxt,.....
