is it just my car? Or does anybody else ever experience this kinda thing? Today, for no particular reason the 280ZX just ran like a mad dog. I mean it was like a different car than it is 85% of the time. It seems like every once in a while it just wants to run particularly well. You would think that it would run better on a nice cool night, but there's no real consistent time it does it. Don't get me wrong though... It alway's runs great... It just ran awesome today. It was the perfect day for a drive too. It was crystal clear outside and about 85 degrees! Perfect Southern California weather. I took the t-tops off and went for a cruise for the second day in a row. Today my car just pulled a lot harder than normal. Maybe it's all in my head...

I have had something like that with my '81 before. Just seemed one day, he would run like a raped ape. And I couldn't figure out why, weird, but you are not alone man. But for the most part he ran decent, just better on some days than others.

 

Never driven my 280 ZX, so hopefully one day mine will choose to run like a raped ape

 

well, after 4 months of driving an L18, tomorow is going to be fun going to work in my Z.

 

my z31 does the same thing. some days it runs like a pig, others, well, not quite raped ape, but certainly not docile. my z32 on the other hand would be in the sexually assaulted primate category 100% of the time.

 

Thats really funny as my turbo 280zx runs normally than once in a blue moon this thing feels like it needs to go !!!!! i meen its been kinda weird to me also.. the turbo spoolz 3 times quicker at 2,200 rpm im at full boost no joke... i have noticed osmething though after putting in GUNK complete engine cleaner and took it out on the road for a 50 mile trip the engine runs now like a CHAMP i feel like i can take on a dodge viper an win !!! by the way i saw a yellow viper with a 2 racing black tripes yesterday the traffic was hevay but i still burnt all the way out of autozone to catch up to the viper !!! lol later yall !!

 

I used to think it was in my head, but now that I think about it, all my cars have done that - especially my Rx7s.
Just seems like at no particular time, it catches me off guard, and is all about the powerband. No joke, I swear Z-cars are posessed. Mine has sporadically run like a champ, like ****, like a champ again, and then fixed many of its own problems.

Those were the good ol' Days. Shame I'm all rotary-power, now.

 

I have had a few day's like that with my Ranger. One day the speed limiter did not even stop me at 90 like it's set to, i went all the way to 120 before i was forced to slow down. Just got to have the condition's right i guess

 

I've actually had that a few times going down the "60" (highway) here on the way to work. Sometimes it just seems to want to run faster than others. Weird!!
