Car running bad, need help

A couple days ago I put the car in full throttle and at high RPM's the car bogged down and there was no power. When it gets up in the RPM's I lose power and it wont go fast like usual. My fuel/air mixture guage reads lean when Im in full throttle. I have a 280ZX Turbo. I raised the fuel pressure because it was low, changed the fuel filter, checked the throttle positioning sensor, and nothing works. Still drives like crap. I order wires, yet to get spark plugs, then I will change the oil and air filter. This guy told me that my timing might be off, what do you guys think? Any ideas?

Definitely check the timing. My Turbo was having a whole slew of running issues because the timing was off. Once we set the timing it fixed a whole lot of problems and the car almost runs perfect now. When you set the timing make sure you set it at 20 degrees and make sure you disconnect the TPS when you do it. The previous owner had put a whole new distributor, cap, and rotor in the car. He set the timing with the TPS connected so the actual timing was way off.

The guy I bought the car said I should have it 23, thats what he had it at, he said. I dont know if this matters but the car is built too almost 300HP, the car runs a 12.9. Let me know. Thanks

Well I guess it could work either way. The Haynes Guide says 20 +or- 3 before TDC. But wow a 280ZX running a 12.9!! That'd be a damn fun car to drive. Another possibility is your Air Flow Meter. The resurgance of people having running problems is rising again and the common culprit seems to be the AFM.

Yep... L28ET timing should be set @ 20 degrees. What has been done to the engine / fuel management to get to 300hp?

The car has almost 300HP, I need to get 420cc i njectors and a stand alone management system and I'll get around 325HP to the wheels. The car porbably has between 280-300HP. It does run a 12.9 though.

Heres a thought. Today I drove the car from my girlfriends house and it ran so strong and fast. Nothing was wrong. It got done raining. I got the car from Pitt. Do you think that I need to reset the computer for temps in Arizona? Do you think that the car runs crappy with this hot weather? Interesting I think. Let me know.

my buddies turbo 280zx runs 11 seconds, that thing is nuts!!! and check that afm, is prolly gonna be the problem, cause youve changed everything else, it may matter aboot the climate change, the afm prolly just needs adjustment under the black cover.

That's usually an indicator of a poor electrical connection somewhere causing changes in resistance confusing the ECU.
