CD player wiring
I'm installing a Alpine cd player headunit to my 1983 280ZX. I'm having trouble though connecting the wiring to the car. The car's wiring isn't the same as the wiring harness that came with the alpine. Can anyone help out with my situation?

Well ... your best bet would be to run new wiring to your speakers, and splice into existing wires for power and antenna control. The stock wiring paired up the ground to the left and right speakers, and I'm sure by now the stock speakers have about had it. I almost guarantee you, unless Alpine really does make a connector for our cars, that connector won't be compatible.
This is slightly off, but related ... I had an old Pontiac Sunbird Turbo that I put a deck into, but I didn't want to cut the connectors off either end (deck or car). So, what I did was buy one of those Scosche wiring harnesses for the deck I was using, and cut the car end off of it (I didn't even bother grabbing one for the right car, they didn't make one for the Sunbird at the time). I went to RadioShack and bought some clip connectors, and spliced everything together and plugged them in. Then, I got some plastic putty and filled the stock connector with it (after plugging in the RadioShack connectors, of course). Let it dry, and voila! Custom, homemade connector, that fits stock.
Hope that helps.

Don't you know how to test the wires? A hardware or auto parts store should have a basic 12v test light. Mine looks like a screwdriver handle with a little light bult inside. The shaft comes to a point instead of a screwdriver. Off the back of the handle is a wire and little clip.
You put the clip to the frame or 'ground' on the battery. Touch the tip of the tester to various wires with the ignition off. If the light lights up, then you have found power.

no no bleach so wrong....
this is what you do..
get 2 pieces of wire with gator grip clips in each side...strap one wire to the ground...strap the other wire to the desired wire...(USUALY YELLOW = constand RED = ignition) and then touch the wires to your tongue....
