coil and IC unit

I disconnected the 2 wires one blue the other black from the coil to replace coil does the blue go on the - terminal on the coil? how do you check the I C unit mounted on the coil bracket? 1983 280 zx turbo 121000 miles . car will not start no spark from coil to dist ,but I do have 12 volts to the IC unit when I turn the key it turns the engine over great and i am getting plenty of gas but no spark. I unpluged the air regulator and the accelarator terminals to clean them know car will not start.

yes the blue goes to negative on the coil. Sounds like you've got a bad IC unit. All too common on the 280zx. Of course i cant say for sure thats your problem, but its definitely a likely possibility. Especially if you've got power going where it needs to be. But just make sure everything is hooked back up correctly if this problem started after you disconnected something.
