crazy bass causing issues

Had the t top sound system revamped. Running 4 5.5 s and two 10 in mtx subs. Have a 1000 watt amp with capacitor. Problem is my alternator is being killed and the bass is making the CD player skip. Has anyone run duel batteries or a second alternator? Thinking about adding sound dead foam around the head unit. Like to get motley crue's kick start my heart. Above half way to teach them youngsters about real music lmao

Haven't run a second alt, but a second battery is pretty basic. Just make sure if you are going to run a single alt with them that it's better than the stock 60 amp! Also, with the sound deadening foam, make sure the cd player can still breathe. Believe it or not, the hunk of metal on the back is actually a heatsync.

Thanks for the link. I'm going to try down sizeing the amp first. Then try the gm altetnator .I have a old 500 watt from the old high school days. Other than a few tiny issues she's good f[or another 2-3 summers on the sick engine. I'll post some pics of the interior. Tried my hand with vinyl pretty nice to work with.

When running your audio equipment, pay heed to RMS ratings. Also, do a read up on how to tune at the amp, it makes a huge difference. All you need is a multimeter.

CS130 for a dodge monaco bolts in and is 100amp rated. You'll need to make a connector for it. Buy March part #131 and you'll have all the power you'll ever need at idle.

For the cd player skipping, either get a better one or use rubber pads between the radio and bracket to shock mount it.

1 sub

In my own humble opinion, a single 10 inch sub and 500 watts is more than adequate for such a small air space. For me I tried to design my audio system for accuracy, and not boom for the sake of boom. I try to get my system to reproduce music as close to the original recording as possible. Not just vibrate the bolts loose. For younger guys, bass is like *******, the more the better. As you grow older you learn to appreciate quality and less so quantity. I like my bass tight and impactful, not boomy and bloated... thats the Beats by dr dre sound, lots of nasty distorted bass, not good ! IMHO, your mileage may vary

Free stereo system Going to be 31 this year and the neighborhood kiddies who even though live in the woods act like inner city hoods. purely to make them uncomfortable. Wife teaches social studies at the H.S. So every once in awhile I pull up Blasting Areosmith "living on the edge" Alice cooper "Poison" Hell even Vanhalen "running with the devil" Which on duel 10s with the 1000 watt IS INCREDIABLE!!! Thought I was going to shatter the hatch glass. I find the hood in their moms old accord. girlfriend in the passenger seat and I get out and talk their jive. Ask where they are going. What they doing. Talk about 80s rock. So funny seeing a trubbled youth getting embarrassed infront of his lady friend.

That is a good point... About the only CD I have is The Devil Wears Prada's Zombie EP.

Everything else, even my vinyl, is mp3. Your thread made me rock "Kickstart My Heart" this morning on my way to work. Straight from the iPod to my JVC headunit.
