Cruise control delete?

I've decided a one hour search on a topic is long enough if I can't find something to ask for it. I'm sure it's been posted somewhere but I can't find it.... do we have a thread on the cruise control delete somewhere?

I don't think there's a write up for this as it's pretty simple:

-Remove cruise control actuator unit
-Disconnect cable from throttle linkage
-Plug vacuum lines
-Going the extra mile would include removing the cc box and relays from under the passenger seat.

Done!

You want yours gone, and I want mine working. Lol. It's pretty simple to remove, like Nismo said.

Cruise control is the next step before sleeping in your vehicle. I definately didn't get the ZX to sleep in (although I must admit there have been a few nights.....).

I never use mine, its not currently working and I've got less than zero desire to get it going. I can use the room on the fender for another fuse block and clean the engine bay up.....

I actually removed my cc and a/c a while back thinking "pft... I don't need this stuff!"

These days I do want comfort! I'll be putting them back in this fall.

The 79-81 cruise control is worthless... just on/off.
The 82-83 has the modern accel/decel switch added.

My 81 has an 82 complete wiring harness...

I kinda toyed with the idea of robbing a newer grand prix of its ambient light sensor from its dash and its light **** from the steering column, and hook it up to the datsun to have auto headlights and a newer looking non POS switch, but it would have to have the cruise control switch with it as well... think they are remotely riggable?

Hmmm.... the cruise control on my '81 was the same as my '83. Maybe because my '81 was a Canadian version it had the newer cruise or maybe an '81 1/2? Everything else was Series I like the tail lights, hood, exhaust exit, exterior pillars, bumpers, etc...

The only time my cruise control worked. Was in my '81, the first year I had it. After I changed to the 130 speedometer. It never worked again. I hardly used it anyway. It is a 5 speed sportscar. Don't need no stinking cruise control. lol

I can see how a/c would be essential, especially down here in the desert. But the cruise would take the fun out of driving. If I had an automatic, like my Neon is. Cruise is handy sometimes. But in a stick, it's kind of pointless in my opinion.

Just an FYI if you do ever want your cruise control to work again, you just need to swap the 130mph speed sensor on the back of the speedo to the 85mph sensor.

I finally fixed mine last year so my voice warning system would work again:

Hmm..okay, they look quite different. So how would I install the 85 mph one, on the 130 mph? I am sure I could figure it out. And does it really have the voice warning system work again? I didn't even realize that. Very interesting, and thanks for the information.

Yep, if you still have the 85mph speedo, you'll see how the speed sensor is attached. Just remove the one from the 130mph and install the 85mph one.

The speed sensor is needed for some of the voice warnings: door open, e-brake on, and also controls the MAF burn cycle for my Z31T ecu / MAF setup.

Very cool - didn't know about the speed sensor. Where is it located? I swaped my US Digital 85MP for a Canadian 130 MPH analog but never read anything in the swap info about the sensor - great info (as usual) NismoPick +1

Aha! Ok so I swaped it out with the speedo unknowingly because it's already attached. That's probably why they don't mention it in the speedo swap threads because it already gets swapped unless you mess with it.

Good to know - thanks guys!
