Curiosity killed the cat?

A question I probably already know the answer to but for discussion sake....down south, are Z car names pronounced as "Zee"X or "Zed"X?

Just curious...although I imagine wisecracks are forthcoming

As much as "zed" sounds retarded to me, the majority of world pronounces it that way. I think the U.S. is the only place that doesnt say it like that so we are probably the ones who have it wrong.

when they ask me what type of nissan : its a zee car...
when people ask me what kinda car is it : 280ZEDX
when i tell them about this site or other ones i use:zeedriver.com or zeecar.com

it just sounds one way better then the other sometimes..to me at least...

That's just too damn funny, especially since I have some Canadian relatives. I'll be using it in the future.

I think ZED X sounds too much like FED X.

haha wow....

you don't pronounce Tuesday "Tee-usday". There is a difference between the phoenetic sound of letters and their names.

Exactly.... ZX is the letter Z and the letter X. Put them together... Zee-eX.

I'm not going to knock how anyone pronounce it but where did "Zed" come from. Seriously and I'm not partaking in the sarcasm here. I want to know. For example, if you were to see a serial number on something in the store and it read 34Z-0001, would you still pronounce it "Zed"? I just dont get where the 'd' part comes from I gotta go with Nismopicks reasoning on this one, cause it is just two letters put together. Is the letter Z prounounced Zee or Zed in Canada? As well as the origina Z, is it also Zed? The only way I can see this is if Z is actually pronounced "Zed" up there. Help me out here guys.

I am in no way poking fun or anything like that. I'm dead serious, I just want to know. So please don't take offense. It's just hard for me to understand the whole Zed thing being from the states and having never heard it pronounced that way. I've seen it written plenty of time, but i always just thought that was some sort nickname or something. Don't leave me hanging on this one, I really want to know now.

I was always wondering that myself. I never heard the Z called "ZED" Until I came on this website. I always call my Z's "Z's" And that is worth a thousand words to me.

ZED is how canadians, british and rest of the world spell out Z...its how we actualy spell it in an alphabet..the actual letter is ZED
abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxy ZED! thats all it is...we didnt invent a word or anything ...i think it came from british spelling because when i was back home in Bosnia learning English they tought us to prounounce it ZED and also SURNAME! who uses surname lol damn brits...

and my comment to nismo was because its still used same in words like 'LICK MY BALLZ" and such but when we spell it ou i would spell it BE EY EL EL ZED

ok i hope it clears everything up and we can wrap this biotch up and toss it away :P

"Zed" is actually a derivative of the latin letter "Zeta" (itself derived from Greek; think Alpha=A, Beta=B, etc.). "Zeta" originally entered the French language as "Zede'" and from there, made its way into many dialects of English as "Zed".

But anyways, sometimes I like to say "ZX". I mean "ZX" with no vowel sounds (no "ee" or "eh" sound between the buzzing "Z" and the "X"). =P

In that intro video to the Wangan Midnight PS2 game. When the guy starts singing about the Devil Z, you can hear him say Devil Zed. Although I'm going to keep calling it the Z because the one Nissan guy called it the Z at the unveiling of the GT-R Proto
