You sure it's OIL, and not FUEL? If you're not getting spark, your cylinders are just filling with fuel each time you crank it (which could be another reason it's not starting.... it could be hella flooded now).

Just pull off a spark plug wire (or the coil wire at the distrib) and set it next to a grounded bolt. Crank the engine & watch for spark.

A remote starter, hook one up to the pos battery terminal and unhook the female tab on the solenoid, connect there(or get somebody to turn the car over). If ya dont have one rent one from a autozone, or parts store. Make sure the car is in neutral so it dosnt roll on you. unhook the coil wire on the dizzy side, stick a phillips screw driver in the coil wire and set it next to any bolt in the engine bay, turn the car over and watch for spark. Hook the wire back up then repeat test down the cylinders. Or pull the plug and reatch the plug wire and check for spark in the gap while ya turn the motor.

MORE starter fluid! :D hehe...
clean those plugs, and then spray some good amount of fluid into the intake manifold while holding the throttle open. Re-connect the hose on the throttle real quick and fire it up!

Hey Nismo, the hood on your 82, did you fab that or buy it? I have been thinking of adding a scoop under the front of the cowling, kinda like a camaro ss. Just wondering if you fab'd it how many hours do you have in it?

You talking about the holes? I just used a die grinder to slice them. I have a new hood that I will put on when I paint the car, so I just did some playin around on that hood. On my new hood I will still have the 4 lower holes, but not the two at the base of the center hood bump.

And fab hours.... about an hour. I just did some quick measurements, threw on some masking tape as a guide & cut.

Oh... and later I tack welded in that honey comb sheet stuff.

straight hate 11-30-2006 09:42 AM

Sweet, I'm just thinkin I'm gonna keep er' open under the center hood bump, no grill or honey comb, just raw. I thought maybe some vents right in front of the hood latch to bring the air back out, but she already has a air outlet on the right side, so that might get scratched. Figured it wouldnt take too long, just bored with the stock stuff n' cant afford aftermarket, stuff. Didnt want to bite on your style.

skittle 11-30-2006 10:06 AM

ok i'll clean the plugs and see if thats it.

skittle 11-30-2006 12:35 PM

ok i cleaned the plugs and sprayed starter fluid and got it to start and run. I then turned off the car and tryed restarting it and nothing. Does that make any sence?

Skittle.... homie... buddy... pal...

When a car won't start, there are 2 main probs:

#1... not the proper amount of fuel (too much, or not enough)

#2... no spark.

Apparently you have spark... so it's sounding like a fuel prob. When you took out the plugs they were wet (you said w/ oil, but I'm pretty sure it's fuel) which means the engine is flooding.

So... why is the engine flooding?
-is the CHTS unplugged / not plugged in correctly?
-is the AFM wacked?

When the engine is flooded, don't just keep on cranking. Clamp off the charged fuel line after the fuel filter, jump in the car, push the gas pedal to the floor & crank at full throttle till it starts.

skittle 11-30-2006 03:11 PM

Ok I'll Do That... I'll Also Change Out My Fuel Filter See If That Helps. I Forgot That After I Ran Out Of Fuel That One Time That I Should Have Changed Out The Filter. It Might Have Sucked Up Alot Of Sediment From The Tank.

skittle 12-04-2006 10:34 AM

ok replaced the filter and still a no go. I also disconnected the fuel pump and tried starting it in case it was flooded. Now she won't even start with starter fluid. I know I have good spark from the coil and the plugs and wires are brand new as well. Any Ideas???

wreckedj30 12-04-2006 10:37 AM

sell it to me for a spare, lol..i got nothing.:paranoid:

NismoPick 12-04-2006 10:37 AM

So connect up the fuel pump & try again.

snwbrderphat540 12-04-2006 10:39 AM

the timing right? compression? timing? timing? i dont know im thrown out ideas from my ass lol

skittle 12-04-2006 10:39 AM

yeah you can have it for a spare for the right price.. lol its got good compression, and timing is good.. i'm lost on this one

wreckedj30 12-04-2006 10:45 AM

no spare car, come on..lol. i have no clue on this one, wait til nismo's back, he must be working, unlike the rest of us.:wasted:

skittle 12-04-2006 10:46 AM

yeah i wish i had people near me that could help out. All the people that do have z32's or Z33's so no hep there.

NismoPick 12-04-2006 10:49 AM

Hey... next time I'm in Vegas I'll stop by!

Plug in your fuel pump & try it again. If it still won't start, pull the plugs & see if they are wet or dry.... wet would mean it's getting fuel / flooding. dry would mean no fuel.

skittle 12-04-2006 10:51 AM

its flooding from what i can tell. I just don't understand how it could run one day and the next nothing???

NismoPick 12-04-2006 10:54 AM

Re-check your head temp sensor on the right rear of the head. Make sure it's securely connected. Also your AFM connection.

If it's flooded again, clamp off the fuel line just after the filter, crank it at full throttle till it starts, hop out & unclamp the line before it dies.

skittle 12-04-2006 10:55 AM

ok i'll try that

skittle 12-04-2006 11:01 AM

xrosses fingers

skittle 12-04-2006 11:16 AM

still nothing... hmmm maybe i'll just junk it.. lol

NismoPick 12-04-2006 12:03 PM

Check the spark plugs again... are they wet with fuel?

Check for spark again...

skittle 12-04-2006 12:07 PM

yeah have plenty of spark, i even changed out the ecu in case that was bad. I guess it could be the afm.. hmmm i'll try to get one from some one else.
