You got that right man, those minivans are a pile of junk. They have the Mitsubishi 6 in them.(no offense to the Mitsubishi owners) But the Mistu's are verry high maintenance, and have no place in a family vehicle. That needs to be dependable. I know because my parents owned a '89 Grand Caravan LE. And it was nothing but a turd from the beginning. Yeah about 100k the head gasket blew on them on a vacation trip. Some vacation huh? So after they fixed it, they quickly got rid of it, before it caused any more problems. Just not a good daily driver for a good size family.

Just my 2 cents on the subject. But yeah dowing I would get rid of that thing, as soon as you can get the chance.

I own an 85 NA 300zx 2 seater. I put an average of 200 miles per month on it. up till 4 months agao I used to drive in 500 miles per month. I began working out of my house here in South Florida, I own a Jamis Hybrid Bike to ride for exercise and to some local stores. I just purchased a Baccio 2006 scooter to ride as well , as well as being a motive for saving gas . on rare occasions I take the Z out to trips to Miami for family visits. But I take the Tri-Rail here and take my bike along with me, then hop on a bus to South dade. I just ordered classic insurance for my 85 .

Classic Insurance? Is that cheaper? I also thought the car had to be over 25 years old to recieve that. Please fill me in, maybe I can save money?

As for the van. The van is the 91 LE. I guess the changed the models in 91, but this van comes with a 3.3L Chrysler Engine as opposed to the 3.0L mitsu engine that was in a model down. I was looking through the book. It showed these vans came with some 4cylinder Chrysler, a 3.0l Mitsubishi V6, and a 3.3L Chrysler V6. The engine on the van itself actually seems to be pretty good from what I can tell. Just everything else is falling apart. It's also just barely hit over 110k miles....

ya, but even a regular GT automatic could beat almost every NA 280ZX out there. sorry to say... these cars are torquey, but really lack power at the top end. any one of us has probably only 120-145 whp at 5200 rpm.

I can't wait to see how fast my turbo car is... my friend has an SR20DET 510... he's quite a bit faster on the freeway although we've never raced from a stop. I'm not sure if that would give me an advantage or not.

my daily driver is a 1986 NA slicktop with 250K miles--perfect drivetrain, got hit in the a-- by nan a--h--e in a 2-seat mercedes 1999 model last oct. just before i could fix the small dings--now looks funky--drives well. i have too many cars and too many z31's. if that be possible--they all run well!

I was dissapointed with my turbo car when I bought it...but with the swap into my 2 seater with the 3.9 rear end and the Nissan 5 speed it hauls. My wife drove it once at 10psi and wont drive it anymore. She said it scares her too much And the best part is as long as I stay out of boost it gets fairly decent gas mileage (in comparison to a Ford Excursion ).

Well a cam isnt really needed with such few modifications. But with those mods you would have quite the fun car.

Also Iv been searching for a car and went to a Nissan dealer today. I drove in and noticed a Brickyard 350Z with R34 GTR wheels and some other things in the employees parking. I was wearing a Gram Lights shirt and the second I walked in some young guy said "Nice Shirt." I knew it was his car. I get talking to him and hes a big Z guy.

Anyways the onlything he had in my price range was a 2000 Mazda Protege DX for $4000. It was a 5spd and had 106,000 miles. What do you guys think??

Another thing I noticed at the dealership was in the showroom there was a brand new Pathfinder and it was real nice. Except the paint had such bad orange peel it was terrible. What the hell is that?? Is the quality control on Nissans bad or something??

You wanna see L28ET Stroker potential???? Lookie at Jeff's Z: http://www.angelfire.com/extreme/280zxt/

When done right, you can get 400 - 500hp... for about $10,000 in the engine.

But you'll start breaking other stuff too...

Sorry guys, I got side-tracked with another project... restoring a new hood... It's one of only 3 that were ever produced on contract for Datsun/Nissan.

It's one of the clear hoods that was originally used on the three NEW 280ZX's at the Tokyo autoshow in 1978. The cars were then shipped to the US and shown at various auto shows in the states.

It's currently getting rebuilt, re-painted and modified to match my current hood. I'm engineering a quick release mechanism so I can use it for car shows, then swap it back to the "normal" hood for driving and track days.

My travel schedule hasn't helped much either. I've been on 5 trips in the last 3 months, I'm in DC this week, I'll be off next week for the holiday (hopefully working on the car, but the house needs painted too...) then I'll be at Thunderhill for a track day July 13th in the 240Z. Have to spend time getting the trailer ready, it needs new tires and a bath. Then I'm off to Berlin for a week, then I'll be back for a couple of weeks before I fly to India for a week followed by a side trip to Melbourne Australia...

So, I'm sorry my car restoration schedule doesn't meet your needs...

Hopefully, it'll be back together in the next couple of months but I'm not holding my breath.

Oh, and somewhere in there, I'm supposed to spend time with my wife and two kids...

LWW, Who can blame you for spending some time with the family

I ended up picking up that Mazda for under 4k and its in very nice shape. I also got a ride in that 350z. And I was very impressed to say the least.

no... it's all over with. I'm back in VA now. But getting ready to move to SD in a few days here.

It was all actually over an incident that happened 4-5 years ago The whole thing recently was that I had apparently violated my probation by moving out of state without consulting anybody first.
