This Damn Heater

Ok. I started installing at heater system(auto control) into my car. It's the only heater system i have at the current time to install. I got everything in. and working fine. But there's no Heat. The blower is working. air is coming though the vents. The hoses are hooked up in the engine bay. But where's the heat?

WHAT!? Why did you swap in the auto controls??? It sucks! That's why everyone swaps in the manual controls. There's two main possible probs causing no heat:

-cracked / leaking vac line (somewhere in the million vac tubes for the auto climate).

-or the water **** (heater control valve) isn't opening.

Solution... start diggin!

i swapped in Everything. Even the lil spinner that mounts to the dash.and the blower only comes on when it wants to. I think i might of ben better off just leaving the damn thing out.

When I did my turbo swap, I swapped in the auto controls but it never worked. The fan would only come on when the slider is on defrost. I finally yanked it back out last summer & swapped back in the manual controls. Upon inspection of the auto control, I found about 5 cracked vac lines (almost all of them were cracked right at the connection). Without vacuum the auto controls can't function.

mine did the defrost only thing too.

Also, one day my heater valve wouldn't open. I removed it and plugged the hose right into the side of the heater core... after adding a little more hose to the end. So I have defrost full heat or nothing. it works for the winter.

I have the manual system ready to go in.

Did you check the fuse connection under the glove box? It's a little glass tube, not a plug in type that's in the fuse box.

You have to do some crazy head-under-dash-feet-over-headrest gymnastics to see it, but if those connections aren't true, you have a problem.

yes i've checked it. the heater worked all the way home. Works Nice too. Will burn you out the car. and will work for now. When spring comes along shortly, I can take the system back out. and Take my time installing a good Man type system, with new vaccume lines and seals.

Yeah I have a friggin' automatic climate control in my '83. Should be a lot of fun to mess with that later on. I'll bet you it doesn't work either. LOL

Otherwise in my '82, he will roast you out of the cockpit. I usually only barely have the fan on, with the heat. And within a few minutes, I am nice and toasty.

create a vaccume for the water control valve. and caped it off. Today i will be runing it to the driver side, hook it up to the air vent control switch on light panel, then out the firewall to a T on the intake.

Heater= 100% now
How? Smarts
First, the Blower motor. Possy from Batt-Toggle Switch-Blower. Then ground. Blower Motor now works full blast at flip of a switch.
Secound, Heater Core. Vaccume line to Drivers Side Vaccume Control Switch-Though FireWall-T at Intake. Now Heater Control Valve opens when you flip that lil switch next to Drivers Side Curtisy Light(under steering wheel)

Third, Drop controls in Dash. Install radio. Enjoy Heat

For those of you who only have heat. and it don't always work. this is a great Dependable Quick Fix. And you get an awsome place to mount your CD Player.

He is much to crafty. lol...however, I left him alone to browse my parts car, now I wonder what he took....I already told him to take what ever he needs....lol...he is helping me get my car on the road. That heater is a priority. That car belongs to fubar when we pull the tranny and rear for the 260z. I apreciate all the help the fub has given.

He ported the turbo intake manifold for the 240sx upgrade on my car yesterday. What did you do with the safety glasses?

kenny.

he prolly sat on the safety glasses! i have had a few auto heat cars, all they ever do is blow hot air. i also found out that if the air conditioning doesnt work, the rest of the auto stuff wont either (for whatever reason) it will only go in defrost. they just plain suck.
