Dash speakers

I know how to get to the dash speaker on the passenger side but how do you get to the speaker on the driver side of the dash?

Jig-saw

Otherwise, you're taking the dash out of the car.

First of all, finding a new dash is gonna be a chore in itself. I've heard tales of $800.00 Dollars if you're lucky enough to find one. Second, Removing the dash, depending on who you ask is either a real pain or only a marginal pain. I do know now that the easiest way is to have EVERYTHING out of the way. Take out the seats... 5 minutes. Remove the steering wheel... another 5 minutes, and the job is much easier. It's still not a task to be taken lightly.

Not too hard, I did it in less than an hour. My first time too, but to give you fair warning. Make sure you put the hardware in bags, and label them. Otherwise you will get confused, take it from me. It is always easier to take something apart, then put it back together. Anyway I am putting my 4" Pioneer speakers under the dash. (100w a piece) Good luck to you, and those dashes are cheap #ss plastic! Along with most of the interior!

By the way, going through all that trouble just to replace a tiny little speaker that's never going to sound great or give good stereo separation... I'd just put in some door speakers like black said.

Door Speakers Are The Only Way To Go ....you Will Never Sound Right With
The Dash Speakers ......they Sound Way Off Center ....If You Go With Door Speakers ...make Sure You Put Them Low In The Door That Way The Window Will Roll All The Way Down

Yeah I found that out when I got my '81. Some moron, cut holes into the doors. So I decided to put some speakers to cover the holes. Low and behold, the idiot, cut them, where the damn window travels. SO I couldn't get any speakers to fit, without the window mechanism hitting them. Otherwise they were nice door panels.

can anyone show me a pic of their door of their 280zx so I know where exactly to cut the hole for the speaker. Also can I get some dimensions of where to cut and how much. I hate not doing something right the first time.

If you said your replacing the dash anyways.. I suggest you get this catalog. Its free and its by victoria british. It gives you some of the parts that you will either find by luck or in worse condition than you have it. They sell full dashboard covers and for 280zx its $89.95. Here is the link. Victoria British
