Difference between 5-speed and auto engine?

My ZX is a 83 NA 5-speed. Is there a different engine for the 5 speed and the automatic transmission?
I found a rebuilt '83 engine in a wrecked car, but the tranny hooked to it is an auto. Does this make a difference? If so, can some adjustments or parts be switched to make this work?
I know with my wife's miata i was told what to swap over to be able to mount her auto tranny on engine that came with a 5-speed. It works fine and seems to have more power than the old engine that came in the car.
thanks for any advice on this.

The engines are basically the same. The only difference that comes to mind is the vacuum port on the auto engine for the tranny to kick down. That can be capped/plugged easily.

Theres I think 3 diffrences.

You need to remove the Automatic pilot bushing from the crank and install a manual one.

Theres the vacuum port for the automatic trans kickdown. It can be capped.

And lastly I think the distributor had different mechanical advance in it.
