A E88 on an F54 turbo

Okay I just had a crazy idea. To save money instead of buying a new P90 head, what if i bought a 2mm gasket and used my E88 head from my '74 260Z!!! Would that work???

A quick search on google / hybridz can answer that question:

And use this tool to plan your build:

Yeah i think somethings funky with my motor, it's an '83 and I'm pretty sure it has flattop pistons even though it's a turbo...Hmmm....yeah there's no dishing, it sinks in a little, but I can't find any pictures of L28 dished pistons besides the ones with the two giant gouges. According to this calculator, I should be running 11.1 compression with the flattops and the E88 head, but if I have dished then it will run 9.2 compression. This seems pretty reasonable for 91/93 and a future megasquirt tuning, right? I suppose the real question is do I have dished pistons or not.

i think your compression #'s are a little high...l28 comp is 8.3 i think, i dont know what a turbo is though

because it's leaking out of one the head bolt passages. Plus I don't want to have to deal with getting a new one when the 90A goes out, because they don't even make parts for the 90A so...Plus i have an E88 that I'm not doing anything with....

I dont' see how it's a better choice? It's cheap, I have it and it's available, now if I could get a #($*& head bolt. Is the combustion chamber more than 44.7 cc? or whatever it is lol...

those are my pistons, are they dished or what?

dang dude, okay I talked to Mike at Mike's Z at Whittier and he said that I'd be fine running normal head bolts, (because he said "the only difference is that they're just called turbo head bolts") from my L26 with the E88 head it comes with. My compression I calculated will be about 9.1:1, this is still good for a turbo running 10PSI with a intercooler am I right? I really did look for a picture of flattops for a long time on google haha thanks Nismo. I did get an offer for a P90 on Hybrid for about 175 shipped, and I'm really in a rut.

If I get a second opinion on what Mike said then I'll either go out right now and start taking apart the L26 or I'll spend like a week trying to get that P90 with turbo bolts set up...meanwhile I'm still scraping my gasket surfaces squeaky clean.

dude, get the 175 dollar p90 thats a good price for shipped. and if your scraping the block squeaky clean you have to be very careful not to gauge any surfaces. better off having a machine shop resurface it.

Who's this Mike guy? Does he work for Nissan? Because Nissan and MSA both claim there is a diff between turbo & n/a head bolts:

http://www.courtesyparts.com/Merchan...Category_Code=
These bolts are the direct replacement for the Turbo applications. However, due to the fact that they are stronger, these bolts can be used in the non-turbo applications.
http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/PEM08/10-1340
If you prefer to use conventional bolts for head fastening, this kit includes the stouter turbo bolts and washers.
I don't think your buddy Mikey knows what he's talking about.

yeah it seems pretty shady, but he owns a Z car shop in Whittier, it's been family owned and operated and it seemed like he knew exactly what I was talking about when I explained my situation. So I take it you recommend getting an extra turbo bolt? I'll do that, especially since they're only $70 lol I thought they'd be at least twice that! Now, about the E88, will that setup work with a turbo at 9.2:1 compression?
