engine temp sensor?

alright so i was poking arround on napa and schucks site looking for water temp sensors and i came across a "engine temp sensor"

http://www.napaonline.com/MasterPage...erature+Sensor

i cant find it in any of my manuals, where does this sensor go and what does it do? or does it just tie in to the guage on the dash for temp readout?

It's for the coolant temp, thermotime, or oil temp (turbo). All three are virtually the same... just diff connectors. Maybe Snw can pull one from the shelf to see what connection it has.

the only thing i can find that resembles it is a thermo fan switch but it has 2 prongs, and it also says its only for '75-78 and then '81 and up turbo which gets me wondering how the hell does the fan clutch know when to kick in to spin the fan more

i am just gonna edit a big chunk out and just ask this.
what sensors, aside from CHTS and O2 would cause a bad mixture on a '79?
aside from CHTS and O2 because my car doesent have either.

whats the old *** equalivant of a CHTS? its one on the thermostat housing i remember that much i just dont remember which one for sure, i am pretty certian its the one that has the same connector as the injectors. theres a seccond sensor that is one wire that i am pretty sure was for the injector fans aswell. any one correct me if i am wrong on this.

and oh **** its 3am, i am not getting much sleep tonite.

There is no "sensor" to control the fan... it's a clutch fan... it's internal: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fan_clutch

AFM has been checked and cleaned, air temp tested ok.

injectors are body bleeders (i need a 6th for my replacments) so i doubt they are causing a rich condition.
