I think Bleach's maroon 280zx used to get 30mpg... but I dunno if it was that good after his turbo swap.

I got 32mpg after I swapped in the 3.54 rear, and yes, 5-speed non turbo. Late engine with higher compression. With the stock 3.9 it was about 28mpg highway. Both were about 19mpg city

My 280ZX generally averaged 21-23mpg, same as my 350Z.
280ZX NA would get 28 highway, 350Z 29-30 highway.

19 to 22 mpg of mostly freeway driving, might have a leaky injector, sometimes a quarter tank in 35 miles city driving

My white 240Z gets 28mpg with a stock motor and dual SU's with 3.7 clutch lsd and Crane XR-700.

My silver RBZ gets 32mpg. Let's face it, it was designed to push a 3600lb Skyline around so a 2500lb 240Z is a feather weight in comparison.

My white 280ZXT got about 15mpg before it was disassembled... The unfortunate side affect of triple Mikuni's and a turbo require you to run rich at low rpm/boost so you don't lean the motor out at high rpm/boost.

I expect my orange MSnS ITB 2.8L NA 240Z to get in the high 20's or low 30's since you can easily tune it for cruising efficiency. EFI is SOOOO much better than carbs.

My green Turbo Diesel Maxima powered 240Z should get well over 40mpg...

I'll let you know what my platinum silver 370Z get's when it comes in next week...

280zx NA 5 speed 3.9 diff

19.2 - 19.6 MPG

No matter how I drive or what I do, my mileage always comes out to be the same... and that is with about 80% highway 20% city.

I need to change the final drive. I refuse to swap a 400 tranny into it and a 700R4 is just unnatural for that year.

It kinda pisses me off to take it on the highway and have a mechanical limit of ~85mph when the engine can push it WAAAY faster.

btw my Z is my heaviest car!
