Fair price?

I looked at a 1981 280ZX Turbo today, with the 3 spd auto. It has t-tops and is black. There's a little rust on the exterior hood and what not. 125,000 miles, starts right up. What would be a fair offer? Also the rear is sort of torn apart (guys son was gonna use it as a race car, decided to remove panels to lose weight, then bought a corvette....) Not for sale, but he's looking to get rid of it. By not for sale, i mean it's not posted on craigslist or the newspaper yet.

$500 or less is about what it's WORTH. If you offer him $500 he will prolly laugh at you.

I've got to agree 500 or less. Rust isn't cheap to repair unless you can do it yourself. And if it is missing interior parts good luck finding usable replacements. I've been collecting black insides for five years.

i'd be a little worried about why he stopped all of a sudden, it almost sounds like theres more wrong than theyre letting on.

i paid $2k for mine and has very minimal rust witl the fancy extra factory parts but it was kind of an exception for only having 82,000 miles on it and its the only thing the bank would loan the full ammount for because i needed a car pretty hard core.

they rated the car as good in NADA and NADA says $5k

Sounds like $ and a Corvette were the reasons he stopped working on it:

What it's "said" to be worth and what people will "actually" pay may be two different things. If you have a super ugly pink car worth $5billion and no one will buy it, is it worth $5billion?
