He drives a yellow 2JZ powered 240z, it's not a 280zx.
He lives here in Orlando and last I know his best time was 8.915 @ 153.6 MPH.

yeah something like that ray, thanks for the correction, and its still a z car! and a dang fast one at that. franks280zx may be the fastest driven! as for all out performance on the strip, check out the timeslips thingy at the top header bar, anyone who likes to brag has a time there. watch out for my wheel stander

How about the Extreme 280ZX website that shows a guys 500hp 280ZX. Very stock looking from the outside and he maintained all the factory emisisons control, AC, and power steering. Its a California car and still street driven legally. That's probably the fastest or one of...

I think his webpage is a bit out of date. He has more power than what was mentioned in the article of Z Sport.

It's a 240z.
Trust me, I've seen it before. From the spectator seats, but I've seen it.
lulz.
He also offered me a flywheel back when I thought I needed one and I posted on OrlandoForums about it and I asked him about his 240z.
Edit: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=105349 , his build thread.

That's Jeff Priddy's car. He's a really nice guy and is an extremely good garage engineer. He's running a slight overbore with a big turbo and re-programmed Z31 ECU. His website is totally out of date. He was up to 450rwhp back in 2005 and was aiming at 600+ streetable rwhp. Anyone thinking about upgrading their 280ZX in any way should read every page of his website. He's truly meticulous in his work. He's also very friendly and open to sharing about his engineering work (rare in most people) if you get a chance to meet him, you won't regret it.

That has got to be the most power anyone has put down with the L28 turbo... (besides Nissan's race team)
Very nice car and nice buildup. He won 1st for 'stock' 280ZX because the car is basically stock with just some bolt-on upgrades. well done
(and internal engine upgrades but you can't see that from the outside)

you seriously dont remember that?

some preofesional shop or some guy in his garage with a Z forum on the computer?
L28 NA has been seen to have about 280 hp on an engine dyno. It was a road race engine which still had good torque. custom made manifolds though.
Most guys that modify the factory intake, use headers, and bolt on the typical stuff with some machine work can get 190-210 whp.
People who bolt on some intake, exhaust, and ignition junk are lucky to see 150whp.

with my n/a im looking to get 250 rwhp, thats the ultimate goal. to expect anything else would really be dreaming on cloud 9. theres a guy at the roadcourse here with 310 at the crank. its got tripple sk carbs on it. only problem is he wont rev it. he just bought the car and seems to be affraid to. the previous owner (my buddy) used to be competitive with it, now it just runs near the back of the pack. rebello builds a 310 chp motor for 10,000. its a stroker and goes very fast, just call them up and empty your wallet.

A recent $10k 3.2L Rebello motor makes about 280hp at the wheels on a DynoJet. This is from a widely respected L6 race motor builder with 30 years of experience. Dave had to magnaflux test about 6 blocks before he found one that he was confident would handle the 3.2L overbore. The car is pretty driveable on a daily basis with a "mild" custom cam profile, mild relative to his full race motors anyway. Achieving 250hp from a streetable NA motor built by an average mechanic is a significant accomplishment.
400hp is gonna require a turbo motor and a pretty good build by an experienced L6 engine builder with standalone fuel management... unless you have $50k and about 20 years of engineering experience like Jeff Priddy.

Just do an engine swap.... unless you have a special 'thing' for the L-series engine. RB25DET with a swapped turbo and a bunch of other upgrades. If you want 400hp I assume you're rich so this should be no problem. The only other way is to go V8 which isn't cheap either. 250hp V8 is cheap. 400hp is never cheap.

i agree with bleach you want 400 on stock internals......go a rb25! i am running an auto with mine and with just bolt ons like turbo, intercooler, exhaust, just easy things and a microtech computer and just some good tuning i make 475hp on 18psi through the standard internals, its worth it for the little modification you have to do to fit it

hahah mine is the fastest on jackstand at this point goodies pooring in .. and i hope to be able to show it at msa in the next year or two!
anyhow the fastest car i have driven is Jeffp's car .. that thing is extreme .. and completly undriveable at that .. for trackuse as it has to much power and to little tire ( im not talking drag here)!
Im aiming for between 3 and 400 at the wheels .. after that im simply not a good enough driver to control it on track...
See Power is one thing but driving wild .. does not give you better laptimes!

when it doubt wiki it out
well, according to Wiki........
The 1983 Electramotive 280ZX Turbo produced over 700 hp (522 kW), and reached a terminal speed of 140 mph (230 km/h) in the standing quarter mile.
When I get the twin turbo LS7 installed in mine I will update with the new numbers...
