Front control arm bushing question?
Quick question, i am trying to replace the front control arm bushing. So i have removed the old rubber and inner tube. The new bushing seems a little bigger and wont fit inside the cavity am i suppost to also remove that outer metal ring?????? thats sitting inside the control arm. if so how cuz that thing is tight in there. btw that was 4 hours of scraping off gunk off the all the suspension and steering system lol is so shirny now.

yeah you need to split that sleeve. You only need one cut usually does it. then get a cape chisel and a 16 Oz ball peen. start whacking at the cut. once you get a little flap upset they usually get loose and come out. either a hacksaw or a saber saw. try not to cut into the control arm but if you nick it a little no biggie plenty of metal there.

woot!
thanx for all the tips guys that did the trick. lol wish i had a blow torch to melt the rubber just for fun lol, but the rubber came off easy since it was all worn out...
btw have any of you guys bought the full prothane bushing kit? just wondering why does it come with 2 sets of front sway bar bushings when only 1 set is required. comes with a 22 mm and a 23mm. Using the 22m since is a nice fit the 23 just dangles, too loose.
