a good learning expierance..

i was out cruzin with my 2 gurlfriends jess and kelina. we were out driving.. i felt the need to show off.. agian.i attempted to do a powerbrake burnout... i didnt know these cars cant do it...i stalled it the first time i attempted it the second time.. when it took off i finially let off the brake.. and just took off on the main street. i heard a clunk ca clunk. and a bit if vibrating.. i pulled over after already doing about 35-40 ish. so i pulled over immedieatly. i looked under my car and coudnt see anything. i could still go foward and backword. a guy pulled over and brought a jack. we jacked up my car, my friend jeremy, (fast240Z) arrived. he got under and laughed. i said wats funny, he said its not funny im just laughing about how much of a dumbass u are. i SHATTERED my front ujoint. and if the heatshield that it hit, and cracked, hadnt fallen to catch the driveshaft, the driveshaft would have gon into the ground or into the cab, which now makes me not scared to drive my car, after i fix it but im going to respect it alot more than i do now.

man... those u joints can usually take a beating. I've Pbraked the shizzle outta my car & everything has held... you got the magic touch! You can (and prolly should) take it to a driveline shop & have them fix & balance it. Shouldn't cost more than $100.

Get one used... You can probably get one for like $50 and put it in yourself.

checked in my haynes book last night, you need a driveshaft from a 2+2, because it's longer.

gotta be non-turbo 2+2. I'm not sure if one from an Auto 2+2 will work or not...

I've got a 2+2 (5-speed) non-turbo driveshaft here for sale if you happen to need it.

Wow! That had to make a Hell of a noise. I can't beleive a new driveshaft/u-joint combo would grenade like that... but I guess caca happens. Gotta give you props for pulling that one off .

Rod.

sorry about calling you a dumb *** last night. It was just really unique that you shattered a u-joint. I've shattered transmissions, fubared u-joints, and frozen motors, but never shattered a u-joint.

Congrats. Breaking stuff is only fun when it's not yours, though.

Let's hope it's fixed without too much trouble.

To hell with $600 for a new one.

Take your old one to a good drive-shaft shop and have them machine it for replaceable u-joints.

It's a relatively simple job.
