Got me a nice fuel Cell.
Well, buddy was buying some exhaust for his AE86, and the guy selling him the exhaust system was also selling a 20gal aluminum fuel cell, foam filled, and even has a sending unit. $100.
Good deal.
So, aluminum fuel cell, and a L28ET in a week. Life is getting better. When I get some pictres uploaded, I will start a build thread.

Tank was never used. Little dust on the top was all.
Not worried about the foam, I could change it out if I wanted to in the future pretty easy.
It's bigger than I was wanting, but still really light, and will work good on road trips. I have been working on 4 gallons because of the current condition of my fuel tank. Been driving me nuts since I got the 260Z.

Fuel Cell installed!!!
Not the way I want. I don't have access to the materials needed to build the cage yet. No money. But, I have to have it installed with an inline pump for the turbo engine.
I have fought that friggen OEM tank and the lining in it for a year now. No more. This is my single favorite mod to date.
It's bolted in the rear of the car, and I drilled a hole through the spare wheel well for the fuel line and used grommets for the time being.

Tell me... What is more ghetto?
Using the screwed up factory tank that holds 15 gallons, but uses 4 before sucking air and constantly introducing dirty fuel and clogging the system due to a cheap lining installed by the P.O., or using a new fuel cell that works perfect the way it is temporarily set up?
I go with option 2. I will get to see what it is like to drive more than 80 miles and not be running our of gas even though it's in the tank.

This is a 20gal cell. Not sure you guys are getting the mental picture. I will get pictures up when I can. Maybe e-mail some with my phone to myself. I don't have personal internet.
The cell will not fit where the original tank did. Nor do I want it to. It will look good when I finish it, and give me the clearance I want to have a center exit rear exhaust. You guys need not to worry about it being ghetto. It's installed in a way that it will not fail me now. I don't have a garage, welder, and square stock to build the cage for the fuel cell with.

That is what I will do when I can. Until then, it's soul purpose is to work better than what I had, and it has been a 100% success.
Just happy to not have fuel problems now.

I put in 20.5 gallons in when I had just bought the car and had no idea about the size of the tank. Had the pump going on auto and walked away, when I saw how much went in I fully expected there to be huge pool of gas underneath

Don't get me wrong, that was a great deal on a 20 gallon cell, but you shouldn't have had to suffer all this time...

There are places around me that would do it. But, I didn't want the down time while they did it. And, the way I want my car setup I would rather have a nice cell. I will also shave the outside fuel door for an even better looking Z.

I referred to hho fuel cells.
theres a lot of progress with them under a vacuum, but we will never get to the point of hho cars.
I've been practicing my hypermiling technique in my Z
