Header

at the back of my header i here sound if i put my hand down ther i feel a leak i have tightened all the bolt down so many times but still a leak what shoud i do sould i have put gaskets sealer on when i put my header on or should i just keep thighting them tell theres no leak i dont want to pull it apart again i am sick of motor work but i want my lower end power and i know thats where iam loseing it and if i leave it the way it is i risk messing more **** up what if my header isnt stright

The headers and auto tranny are what get rid of the lower end power.

I'd say the header gasket could be burned. Tell us all what MSA told you. About not tighteneing the bolts down for the header. I've never heard of that. maybe someone else has done it?

If the gasket is burned then you need to replace it.

Oh, I finally got that nut lose on the clutch line... soon you'll get your stuff.

You should buy a stud kit. It allows you too tighten down the headers without fear of snapping a bolt.

That's what he has. He said Motorsport auto who sold him the header and stud kit, and then told him to only tighten the bolts loose. Finger tight. This would allow the header to expand when heated up.

I tightened mine up good when I installed my headers a few years ago. now leaks, no cracks, and I have a cheaper header than his. Mine is all thin with little welded spacers where the bolt heads go. '81's Header has a nice thick flange that mates up with the engine head.

what they said about the bolts is a bunch of crap becauce iam way past finger tight point i keep tighting them more but i worry about breaking a bolt it think one spot got better because i can her my muffler more and i feel the leak less hmmm i will slowly thighen them more if i braek a bolt owell i would be happyer breaking a bolt then mess my head up i need to do vale lash still and i think power will come up after that .It did when we did it to old blue ................from 30 to 75 watch out old red is crazy
