Does anybody know who might have the control switch for the heater that works for sale. I have a 1983 280ZX 2+2 5 spd with the climite control a/c system. The switch is not the dial type, but the button one. The production date is 6/83 (digital instrments). I am still checking the junk yards, but not having much luck. I can get the blower to work by hot wiring the blower, but I don't think that's the answer. Any assistance/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

 

Welcome to the crappy "auto climate control." BTW... the button is to recirc the air, it doesn't turn on the fan. You move the slider to turn on the fan. If that doesn't do it, you have a vacuum leak in one or more of the billion tubes that controls all the ports & actuators.

My Z originally had manual controls & I switched to auto w/ my turbo swap. I couldn't ever get it to work right so I swapped back in the manual control box. Upon removal of the auto controls, I noticed cracks in almost every tube. I replaced several w/ some spare that I had & used a vac pump to open the ports... low & behold it worked.

Long boring story short.... replace all the vac tubes / hoses & it will work.

 

NismoPick, Thanks for the suggestion on replacing the hoses. I recentely took the Z to a garage and their electrician replaced a control module (I had an extra one since I have several 280ZX's), and now it runs, but not too fast. I found the small hoses at O'Relies as they seem to be the only store stocking the small hoses. I will change them all out when the rain & cold goes away. Have a happy holiday.
