i am new to the z experince and i have a 79 280zx every place i look for parts they say it fits 73-78 or 80 and up are ther any years that i can cross over from please help

The 240z-280z (S30) years are 70-78.
The 280zx (S130) years are 79-83. There are two generations of the 280zx:
79-81: Simple bumpers / trim, t-tops intro in 80, turbo intro in 81.
82-83: Integrated bumpers / trim, all cars came w/ turbo NACA hood ducts, talking lady (voice warning box).

Now, where are you looking for parts? MSA? BDA? Nissan? They should all have the proper years listed.

the bitch box!!! i thought it only came on digital models. my '83 doesnt have it, but it is an old car with lots of prev. owners.

 

All USDM 82-83's came w/ it. Someone may have removed that box from your car... have you looked for the harness?

 

Yeah, check your harness...I have an 82 Turbo and I have the talking lady....I love HER!!!!

oh no. i dont want it. it annoys the hell out of me when i drive my buddy's 280. i've only driven 2 280s. mine and my friend's. he has a digi dash and mine's an analog. so i was j/w.

 

Nismo tell him about the 2+2's before he buys the wrong hatch!!!!!

 

You can't interchange 2seater & 2+2 hatches... is that what you wanted me to say?

 

I found that out the other day, I was thinking of changing out mine and I thankfully measured it first.
