Help me pick two gauges
Guys,
I am going to replace the gauges in the dash, one will be boost, I am thinking the second oil pressure, and the third how much power the alt is cranking over.
Any ideas on the second or third?
Thanks,

You have a 280zx turbo right? I personally wouldn't take out the oil pressure / oil temp gauge. That's a pretty important gauge. If you must replace all three, you could also do a Pyrometer, Oil Temp Gauge, Volt Gauge, etc etc etc. Go to www.autometer.com if you really need to fill all three with new gauges.

I was actually leaning towards a cylinder head temp gauge. It's easy to install (no drilling like a pyrometer). I'm considering an A/F gauge as well, but I'm concerned the flickering LED's might be really distracting to me, as well as difficult to tell what's going on if it keeps going back and forth.

a pyrometer would be a good alternative to an A/F gauge. Narrow band A/F gauges aren't very accurate at giving you a reading. You can tune just as well, if not better with an exhaust temp gauge plus you dont have to worry about all the flashing lights. Sure it's a little more work to install then an A/F gauge but I'd rather have one of those then a narrow band a/f gauge installed full time.
Keep the oil temp/pressure gauge. Put an aftermarket boost gauge in place of the stock boost gauge. And put a voltmeter or an A/F gauge or an exhaust temp. gauge in the 3rd slot where the clock usually is.

I left the NA large oil pressure and voltmeter in place. I added a boost gauge and A/F gauge on top of the dash. My brand new Autometer A/F gauge was broken though... I'm too lazy to remove it now to return it.

at sema this year they had a place that specialized in custom digital gauges. you can hook it up to your computer and change color, backround image, and what the gauge does. I'll try to find the place again and post it. they are very very cool and just as expensive but with the customization its worth it.
