help with putting hood back on '83 280zxt

Love my Z, she is sooooo high maintenance..... glad I found this site!!.

I had a front end collision. I got a new aftermarket hood. put it on but Im still missing spring/parts in front where the main hinges are. Got the hinges & hood put back together ok (hood opens & closes) but missing the rod(s) that goes from left to right hinge part of car or don't remember how it fits together.... so when I pull on the latch release from inside the car, the hood does not "pop" open because there's no spring tension. Does anyone know of an assembly diagram for that or point me in right direction?

thanks in advance

Welcome to ZDriver!

Where in Utah are ya? As for the hood... you have to load the tension by twisting the rods to meet the mount plates. There should be a diagram in the Haynes Manual & FSM. I'll get a pic in a few if I can... or check the pics on my cardomain page.

Rockin. Did ya get the hood figured out? And post some pics of your car!

We've got quite a few people from Utah on here these days!

not yet... I didnt see it in the Haynes either... Life is sooo hecktic now that one's got a mortgauge. where did all my spare time go?? Anyway the other day I stop to talk to a very cool '81 zx owner that I've never met & he was kind enough to let me look at his car/hood... looks like there's 2 rods that holds up the hood? & I only have one(bent). If you guys know of a wrecking yard in utah that has a 280zx with the front end in-tack please let me know.

yes my '83 ZXT is still very exciting. I never get tired of looking at her... I'll have to post some pics one of these days & make you all jealous.... haha =)

There's an 82-83 zxt at the Tear A Part here in Salt Lake. I saw it get dumped off. Blue & Audiofreak have both been there & seen it.... that was several weeks ago.
