heres an odd one fer ya.

i ran into some older dude today tellin me how hes fixin up his 82 and girlfriends 83 cars, he said hes gone all out on having the chrome powder coated black and said he had the inner wheel wells line-x ed. any way he says he got this header.
he says this header wouldnt fit on his car because if the steering shaft was in the way, but he said it should fit mine because i dont have rack and pinion. i have the other power steering....floating ***** or something like that. he wants $75 for the header.

i'm gonna look at it before i buy it but i am stumped trying to think about what hes talkin about because....its just werid sounding. what do you guys think?

it was my understanding that if its a 6 cyl L series engine (minus LD's) and its a header made for a L series it fits in the engine bay no bones about it, mabe some tweaking when it leaves because there are so many different setups.

Maybe it's a custom header?

there are 2 diff types of header for the z's. the ones with rack, need the 6-3-2-1 header. the steering shaft goes straight to the rack, and goes right where that header would go. the older s130's, with recirculating ball steering, like yours can have the equil-ish length headers that all come together as one. msa sells both kinds, but for the s130 usually reccomend the 321 kind just incase the steering is rack.. the 6-1 is better in my opinion, but only when the entire engine has been done, otherwise no real change will be seen even from upgrading to a header. although the noise out the back sounds a little more refined!
